Protesting Teen's Death, Demonstrators Shut Down Stores on Chicago's Michigan Avenue

Protesters in Chicago managed to convince the Apple store on Michigan Avenue to close its doors on Black Friday, November 27, usually one of the year’s most important days for retail sales. They were not demonstrating against consumerism, however, but in memory of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, a black teenager shot 16 times on October 20, 2014 by a white Chicago cop. Video of the shooting was made public on Wednesday, leading to days of protests.
