Red Cross Teams in Nepal Make Sanitation a Priority

International Red Cross and Red Crescent groups supporting the Nepal Red Cross arrived in small villages this week, to tend to those affected by the massive earthquake that hit the country on April 25.

According to the British Red Cross, equipment sent to Nepal included tools to dig latrine trenches in rural areas.

The equipment is part of a “mass sanitation module”, which provides help for 20,000 people whose homes have been damaged or destroyed. The earthquake is reported to have killed more than 7,000 people and injured more than twice that number. Credit: ifrc
