Satellite Imagery Shows Eruption of Mount Shindake in Japan

Mount Shindake, a volcano on the southern Japanese island of Kuchinoerabujima, erupted around 10am on Friday morning. Japan’s Meteorological Agency issued a level 5 alert at 10:07am, prompting the evacuation of the Kuchinoerabujima’s 130-140 residents. No injuries or damage was reported in the immediate aftermath.
