South Carolina National Guard Performs Water Rescues

At least nine people died in historic flooding in South Carolina last weekend. The South Carolina National Guard helped stranded residents by pulling them to safety, which can be seen in this video. Local media reported the National Guard has performed 25 aerial rescues, and Department of Natural Resources has performed an additional 150 rescues.

A storm has dumped more than two feet of rain on South Carolina, especially along the coast, triggering the record-setting flooding. Roads are closed throughout the state, and people have been evacuated from their homes. Nearly 1,000 people are staying in shelters across the state, media reported.
