Sydney Resident Goes Fishing in Flooded Backyard

Cleanup efforts began in New South Wales on Wednesday, April 22, after severe storms battered Sydney and the Hunter, Central Coast and Illawarra regions. New South Wales Premier Mike Baird called it the worst storm weather in a decade.

The northern Sydney suburb of Narrabeen was hard hit by the storm, with widespread flooding and a house reportedly swept off its foundations. Parts of Narrabeen, especially close to the lagoon, remained under a flooding and landslide risk on Wednesday morning, with an evacuation centre set up at Mona Vale.
