Timelapse Shows Famous NATO Star Moving to New Headquarters

The NATO star sculpture that has sat in front of the organization’s old headquarters in Brussels since August 1971 is currently being moved to a new home outside of the Alliance’s new office, which began construction in 2010 and is scheduled for completion this year.

This timelapse footage shows the preparations taken to move the star across Boulevard Leopold III on Saturday, May 28.

According to an official press release, the star was designed to represent a stylized compass, and stands 7 meters high and between 4.2 and 7 meters wide. Credit: YouTube/NATO
