Timelapse Shows Typhoon Haima Roll Into Hong Kong

Powerful Typhoon Haima lashed Hong Kong with strong winds and torrential rain on Friday, October 21. The Hong Kong Observatory hoisted a Typhoon Signal No. 8, prompting the closure of offices and schools, the cancellation of more than 700 flights, and disruption of bus and ferry services, according to public broadcaster RTHK. This timelapse video shows Typhoon Haima rolling into Hong Kong.

Typhoon Haima, with maximum sustained winds of up to 130 km/h (81 mph), was about 130 km (81 miles) east-northeast of Hong Kong at 2 pm Friday. The typhoon had made landfall near Shanwei, China.
