UN Calls for Urgent Action to Tackle Refugee Crisis

The United Nations refugee agency says that “urgent and bold action” is needed from the Greek government and the European Union to deal with the current refugee crisis in Greece, where more than 100,000 people have sought shelter so far in 2015.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is mobilizing emergency teams, resources and delivering basic humanitarian assistance in order to address the most urgent gaps and support government efforts.

According to the organization volunteers, local communities and NGOs are providing assistance, but they say that further support is needed. This video features a report on the current humanitarian needs in the region. Credit: YouTubeUNHCR
