UNC Charlotte Students March Against Racial Injustice

Hundreds of students marched in a protest across the University of North Carolina Charlotte’s campus to show solidarity against racial injustice on Wednesday, September 28. It was the latest in the string of protests against police brutality and racial injustice since the shooting of Keith Lamont Scott more than a week ago.

Local news estimated the crowd at 400 and also said faculty members participated in the march.

At times students chanted for the release of all the video of the Scott shooting. Last weekend, police released two videos from the shooting — one from a dash camera and one from a body camera.

Police were on patrol for a suspect on an outstanding warrant when they came upon Scott on September 20. Police said Scott had marijuana, but it was a gun that drew their attention. The released video shows police surrounding Scott’s vehicle, telling him to drop the weapon, before Scott exits the vehicle. Moments later he was shot several times. Scott’s family has contended Scott did not have a gun. Credit: Instagram/kookieralph
