US Coast Guard to Suspend Search for Missing Florida Teens

The US Coast Guard planned to suspend its search at sunset on July 31 for two teens who had been missing at sea off the coast of Florida. Austin Stephanos and Perry Cohen have been missing since July 24, when they were last seen fueling their boat in Jupiter. Their capsized boat was discovered on July 26, but the two boys have yet to be found.

Coast Guard Captain Mark Fedor said it was not an easy decision to suspend the search, especially since many members of the Coast Guard in the area have children the same ages as Stephanos and Cohen.

The family released a statement thanking the Coast Guard and saying they would continue the private search with volunteers, according to local media. Credit: US Coast Guard
