WFP Provides Food for Refugees Fleeing Burundi Into Tanzania

Many refugees fleeing conflict in Burundi into Tanzania find their first point of settlement in Kagunga, on the banks of Lake Tanganyika, before being transferred to Kigoma by boat. In Kagunga, a number cases of cholera have been reported, with the World Food Programme (WFP) reporting about 30 deaths.

This footage, filmed by the WFP between May 22-23, shows Kagunga and the stadium in Kigoma where the organization, having instigated an emergency operation, provides food for refugees. The WFP said that of more than 46,000 people who entered Tanzania by late May 2015, 26,000 had received WFP assistance. Credit: World Food Programme
