Wildflower 'Super Bloom' Revealed in Death Valley

Eastern California’s section of Death Valley National Park is currently experiencing a “super bloom” of wildflowers – an unexpected phenomenon considering the area’s inhospitable environment.

This footage shows huge swaths of yellow wildflowers currently covering the valley’s normally rocky and brown landscape.

“You always get flowers somewhere in Death Valley, almost every month of the year,” says park ranger Alan Van Valkenburg. “But to have a big bloom like this, which we hope will become a ‘super bloom,’ which is beyond all your expectations, those are quite rare. Maybe once a decade or so.” Credit: YouTube/DeathvalleyNP
