Willow Fire 40 Percent Contained After Burning for a Week

Evacuation orders remained in place for parts of the Sierra National Forest on July 31 as firefighters continued a nearly week-long battle against the Willow Fire. The fire was 40 percent contained by 3:40 am on August 1, according to the incident report, as more than 1,950 firefighters worked to manage the blaze across 4,394 acres.
