Women Gather for Ankara Anti-War Protest Following Sexist Remark

A group of women gathered in Ankara on August 1 for an antiwar rally, following an incident in parliament in which Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç told a female politician: “As a woman, be quiet.” Pro-Kurdish deputy Nursel Aydoğan had been speaking during a debate on the government’s military assault on Kurdish militants in Iraq.
