Zarif Calls for 'Balanced Agreement' on Iran's Nuclear Program

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif released a video message on Friday, July 3, calling for compromise instead of coercion to iron out the final differences in an agreement on his country’s nuclear program. Speaking in Vienna, where the talks are being held, Zarif said that “we have never been closer to a lasting outcome,” but the Western leaders in the talks must make “a critical and historic choice (between) agreement or coercion.”

In what may be a nod to US political campaign ads, Zarif closes his message by saying, “My name is Javad Zarif, and this has always been Iran’s message.” Credit: YouTube/Javad Zarif
