The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra announced Thursday it will perform a series of concerts in Toronto and New York starting later this month.

The two-stop tour begins on February 27 at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, followed by three shows at New York's Carnegie Hall on March 1-3, the prestigious orchestra said in a statement.

With Austrian conductor Franz Welser-Most at the helm, the orchestra will perform a programme featuring symphonies by Franz Schubert and Anton Bruckner and a concerto by Alban Berg, among other works.
