Vikings receiver Floyd gets day in jail for alcohol

Minnesota Vikings receiver Michael Floyd was sentenced to one day in jail by an Arizona judge for violating terms of his house arrest by testing positive for alcohol. Scottsdale City Court Judge Statia D. Hendrix found several positive tests for traces of alcohol and one missed test were enough to warrant the sentence. Floyd will also serve the final five days of his 96-day house arrest after a drunk driving arrest last February. The football player contended that drinking kombucha tea caused him to violate terms of his house arrest by unknowingly ingesting alcohol in the fermented drink. Floyd, 27, failed three self-administered Breathalyzer tests June 10-11. He was arrested last December in Arizona and released two days later by the Arizona Cardinals. He served 24 days in jail in Arizona after a guilty plea before his house arrest, which was transferred to Minnesota so he could continue his career with the Vikings. "When we signed Michael Floyd, we hoped he would show signs of improvement and we continue to expect that he shows progress and a professional attitude," Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said. "We believe Michael will be a productive member of the Vikings organization, both on and off the field."
