Wagamama to reopen 100 UK restaurants for delivery and new Click and Collect service

Wagamama has announced that it will have reopened more than 100 of its branches across the UK by the end of next week.

The high street chain was forced to close its restaurants in March after prime minister Boris Johnson announced a nationwide lockdown but in recent weeks it has started gradually reopening outlets.

Last month, Wagamama announced plans to reopen 67 sites nationwide for delivery but now it has committed to expanding this to include 18 more sites on 11 June, before opening the remaining 15 branches by the end of July.

The move comes as the pan-Asian restaurant also launches a new click and collect service for customers while it waits for more clarity from the government as to when it can welcome customers through its doors once more.

According to the latest advice, restaurants and pubs will be able to open on 4 July at the very earliest.

The click and collect service allows guests to pre-order meals and drinks online and select an exact collection time to reduce the need for queueing and enhance safety.

It is just one of many service innovations that Wagamama will be trailing as they adapt to changing consumer needs and a new normal, with the restaurant chain revealing that it is already looking ahead to the future and developing new ways of operating their in restaurant experience.

“We recognise life after covid-19 requires all of us to adapt to a ‘new normal’. For Wagamama we have wanted to ensure we can still get our delicious fresh food to our guests but this has to be underpinned by an imperative to do this safely for both our teams, guests and the delivery drivers who support us,” says Emma Woods, Wagamama CEO.

“Both contactless delivery and pre booking your takeout slot through click + collect supports this safety-first operating stance for Wagamama.”

All of the delivery and click and collect sites will operate seven days per week with the scheduled opening hours of 4pm to 9.30pm. However, some sites will operate extended opening hours so be sure to visit the Wagamama website for the most up-to-date information.

In accordance with strict government guidelines, Wagamama has put together a comprehensive policy to ensure the safety of all, including no contact delivery with riders and increased frequency of hygiene regimes.
