Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones is set to be out of action for at least six weeks after suffering a shoulder injury during last weekend's Six Nations defeat by France in Paris, the Welsh Rugby Union said Wednesday. The 31-year-old lock was replaced in the 51st minute at the Stade de France after injuring himself at a ruck during Wales's eventual 20-18 defeat last Saturday. Ospreys second row Jones, tipped as a possible captain of the British and Irish Lions when the combined side tour New Zealand later this year, has been ruled out of his Welsh regional side's Celtic League match away to Treviso this weekend. He is also in line to miss the European Challenge Cup quarter-final against Stade Francais on April 2 and also any potential semi-final tie should the Ospreys beat the Paris club. "Alun Wyn suffered a shoulder injury in the France v Wales RBS 6 Nations match at the weekend and, following scans and orthopaedic consultation, he will undergo an initial six-week period of rehabilitation," said a WRU statement issued Wednesday. Ospreys are set to play the final match of the regular season against Scarlets on May 6, with the Lions squad due to leave for New Zealand some three weeks later.
