Wallace Huo quits social media amid criticisms of new drama

18 Sep – Rumours are rife that the harassments received online was the reason why Wallace Huo suddenly decided to shut down his social media accounts.

As reported on Epoch Times, the actor who was never active in updating his Facebook and Weibo accounts, suddenly posted a message on the two platforms, which read, "From now on, I hope to only communicate with everyone using the purest way (that is through my work in movies and television)."

"I wish everyone a beautiful life. Thank you," he added.

He also had since disabled the comment section of his studio's Weibo account.

Although he gave no reason as to why he decided to shut down his accounts, many believed that it was due to the criticisms and negative comments about his acting on the period drama, "Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace".

The actor has been a victim of overly obsessed fans, who kept comparing the drama with another successful period drama, "Story of Yanxi Palace", which revolves around the same court.

Aside from netizens claiming that Wallace could not keep up with his leading lady Zhou Xun, some also compared Wallace to "Yanxi Palace" actor Nie Yuan, who they said played the Qianlong Emperor better than Wallace did.
