PUTRAJAYA: PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today confirmed that a parliamentary seat will be vacated to pave the way for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to contest.
Dr Wan Azizah, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, said, however, when and where the seat concerned would be vacated for the PKR president-elect could not be announced at present.
“I think it is not yet announced. God willing, some of our elected representatives have offered to vacate their seats to enable Datuk Seri Anwar to contest,” she told reporters after launching the National Welfare Foundation (YKN) -Palestine People’s Fund campaign here today.
Last night PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli revealed that the party would vacate a parliamentary seat next week to enable Anwar to contest.
Meanwhile asked on the statement by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was not satisfied with the performance of the Cabinet ministers, Wan Azizah, who is also Women, Family and Community Development Minister, said it was a reminder for them to discharge their duties better. – Bernama © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
