Wanted criminal dies in gunfight with police during a raid

KOTA KINABALU: A wanted criminal was shot dead by police outside his home at Tuaran yesterday.

The suspect was shot dead when police returned fire after the man fired two shots at the team that raided that raided the home at 7pm following a tip-off.

The 37-year-old local man with prior criminal record is believed to be the mastermind of several burglaries, robbery and vehicle theft cases.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Ramli Din in a press conference here said the suspect succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds on his body and head.

In the raid, police also seized several items including 3.7kg of syabu with an estimated market value of RM300,000.

Police are currently on the hunt for the mastermind’s three remaining accomplices who police say are still in hiding in the state.
