SINGAPORE — Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Home Affairs and Health Amrin Amin said he had a “meaningful” meeting with Malaysian politician Anwar Ibrahim on Thursday (8 August) in Mecca, where both men are currently performing their haj pilgrimage.

“I met Malaysia’s political leader Anwar Ibrahim and his family for breakfast in Mecca this morning,” said Amrin in a Facebook post, while sharing a picture of the pair sharing a table.

“We had a meaningful breakfast discussion on contemporary political and Islamic thinkers and the close, warm relations between Malaysia and Singapore,” he added in the post.

Amrin also said that both men were performing their pilgrimages at the “invitation of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques”.

Earlier this week, the 41-year-old Sembawang GRC MP fielded queries in Parliament concerning the Home Team’s readiness to tackle civil unrest incidents and the vice situation at Orchard Towers.
