'We ruled India for 800 years, won’t show papers': Akbaruddin Owaisi

A video of controversial All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has gone viral on social media showing him making incendiary comments in an obvious bid to incite passion amongst his followers opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act.

“I want to tell those people who are asking us to show them our papers that we have ruled this country (India) for 800 years. Every nook and corner of this nation bears the sign of our greatness,” he said while addressing an anti-CAA rally recently in Secunderabad on Tuesday.

“Listen Mr Prime Minister, our forefathers (Muslims) built the Charminar, the Qutub Minar and the Red Fort, your father didn’t. We won’t show any papers,” he screamed.

This isn’t the first time Akbaruddin has made provocative comments. In 2012, he had threatened that if the police force is kept aside for 15 minutes in India, Muslims, who are a minority, will show the Hindus what strength is.
