SINGAPORE — Here is a round-up of sports events and developments in Singapore in the past week (13-19 July):

Ng Ser Miang re-elected as IOC vice-president

Singapore’s veteran sports administrator Ng Ser Miang was re-elected to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) executive board as vice-president at the 136th IOC Session on Friday (17 July).

The 71 year-old has served the IOC as a member since 1998. He served as vice-president from 2009 to 2013, and as executive board member twice – from 2005 to 2009, and from 2016 to 2020. He also chairs IOC’s finance commission and human resource committee.

“Being able to serve on the IOC, be a part of the Olympic Movement, and contribute to sport in my own way has always been a role that I've seen as a rare privilege,” said Ng, who is also chairman of the Singapore Olympic Foundation and Singapore Olympic Academy.

“I will also continue to leverage on my knowledge and network for the development of sports and the Olympic Movement in Singapore, and hope to support more Singaporeans in serving in international sports organisations.”

2XU Compression Run postponed to 2021

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2XU Compression Run Singapore 2020 has been postponed to 11 April 2021. The dates for the Malaysia and Indonesia events will also be updated at a later period.

All registered participants will automatically have their race slots transferred to the new race date with a race entry-pack collection for 2021. They will still receive their race entitlements for this year’s event, with collection details to be announced in early August.
