PUTRAJAYA: The Foreign Ministry has established close contact with authorities in St Petersburg, Russia, following a deadly explosion in an underground train at the city’s Sennaya Ploschad and Tekhnologichesky Institute stations.
Early reports indicate that 11 people were killed and at least 50 others were injured.
"At present, local authorities are in the midst of identifying the victims.
"The Malaysian Embassy in Moscow is in close contact with local authorities and the Malaysian community in St Petersburg to ascertain (if) Malaysians (were affected by) this incident," the ministry said in a statement today.
It said Malaysians in St Petersburg who are affected by the incident, or require consular assistance, may contact the Malaysian Embassy in Moscow at Mosfilmovskaya Ulitsa 50, 117192, Moscow.
