Wetaskiwin RCMP investigating after pin found in Halloween candy

Wetaskiwin RCMP are investigating after the mother of a six-year-old child bit into a piece of Halloween candy that contained a pin.

The mother reported that she bit into a mini chocolate bar her child collected and discovered a pin. She did not receive any injuries.

“The pin did not prick anybody or poke anybody,” said RCMP Cpl. Gary Kroeker. “[She] bit into the candy without actually being hurt by that. [She] noticed there was something odd about it, and there was a pin in there.”

RCMP say the incident appears to be isolated, as they have not received any other complaints of that nature. They have not been able to determine where the piece of chocolate came from.

Police are encouraging parents and kids to thoroughly check their candy before eating it.
