Where have more than 15,000 Territorial Army Regiment members gone?

GEORGE TOWN: More than 15,000 members of the Territorial Army Regiment, whose status have been deemed inactive, have been told to report to the authorities.

Its assistant chief Major General Datuk Abdul Rahin Abdul Mutalib told newsmen that they will begin 'tracking down' the 15,531 inactive members by early next month.

The search team will trace the last known addresses of the members and will also seek for help from the National Registration Department (NRD) and Road Transport Department (RTD) in cases where the members had moved.

"I urge the said inactive members to turn themselves in at the nearest camp or at the camps where they should be reporting for duty.

"We just want to know if they are still interested in becoming a part of the territorial army. This is part of an effort to optimise and have better financial management in the future," he said after visiting the 509th Regiment of the Territorial Army at Lebuh Peel here today.

*EDIT: An earlier version of this article had stated the number of inactive members as 31,061
