Why Adele Skipped the 2024 Met Gala

Although Adele has yet to attend the Met Gala, it seems 2024 won’t be the year she makes her long-awaited debut. Despite hopes the crooner would be in attendance, fans were left wondering why she skipped the major event.
The singer has never spoken up about why she’s remained absent from the Met Gala, but at least in the case of 2023, she was enjoying a well-deserved break from her Vegas residency, Weekends With Adele, when the fashion fundraiser took place.
This explanation seems to be the same reason Adele stayed home from this year’s Met Gala as well. Her sold-out residency, which was originally supposed to end in 2022, has been extended through this June, with the final batch of shows slated to start back up on May 17. With that date a little more than a week away, it’s quite probable the chart-topper is practicing her high notes in Vegas, which would explain why she didn’t have time to make a journey to New York.
This is not to say Adele doesn’t appreciate a high fashion moment. At her residency shows alone, the Grammy winner has glided out in a number of haute couture stunners from the likes of Zuhair Murad, Dolce & Gabbana, Cong Tri, and more designers.
When her Vegas shows began, Adele’s stylist, Jamie Mizrahi, told The Wall Street Journal the singer would wear a new look for each weekend of her residency, and that the pieces would be archived after each run.
“One of Adele’s superpowers is the ability to give you déjà vu in the right way,” Mizrahi said. “Even when she does something new or modern, it feels like the same Adele you first fell in love with. That’s the look we’re going for.”
