Camp Garcia, Cavite - Two angles, including robbery, are being looked into as the motive in the killing of ad firm executive Kristelle M. Davantes, known to friends and the growing number of Netizens crying out for justice in her case as "Kae," top police officials revealed yesterday.
Chief Superintendent Jesus Gatchalian, Police Regional Office (PRO) 4-A director, said probers are working now on a lead that may well solve the case.
Senior Supt. Alexander D. G. Rafael, Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, also assured no stone is left unturned in the investigation of the killing of the 25-year-old bachelorette whose body was found dumped under a bridge in Barangay Sabutan, Silang, this province last Saturday.
A senior account manager of McCann Worldgroup Philippines Inc. at Bonifacio Global City, Davantes was found with a knife wound in the neck, her mouth stuffed with a handkerchief, and her hands bound by the seatbelt of her car. Her car remains missing.
Davantes was last seen alive by three friends, including her boyfriend, driving a silver 2011 Toyota Altis car (PIM-966) from the parking lot near her office past 1 a.m. on Saturday or five hours before she turned up dead under the Tibagan Bridge.
Gatchalian and Rafael said the investigation seems to be boiling down to robbery and carnapping although the angle of a personal grudge is not being discounted.
"We are doing everything. We are back-tracking, seeing CCTVs (closed-circuit televisions) installed on streets that may have been passed by the victim's car and gathering witnesses to the incident, everything," Rafael said.
During the interview, Rafael did not rule out that the assailant/s may be known to her.
He also noted evidence showing that Davantes, a resident of Moonwalk Subdivision in Las Piñas City, tried to fight off her assailants.
"Based on the investigation, Kae fought off her assailants... she's brave," he said.
