SINGAPORE — A 32-year-old woman is assisting the police with investigations after videos of her purportedly driving against the flow of traffic went viral online.

The police said on Sunday (8 September) that they were alerted at about 10.24pm on Friday to a case of dangerous driving along Upper Cross Street in the direction of South Bridge Road. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Various videos posted online on Sunday showed a black Mercedes Benz being driven down Upper Cross Street in the leftmost lane against the flow of traffic.

One video showed the same vehicle resting against an overground box and mounted on the pavement outside Chinatown Point. A man in a red shirt is seen opening the car’s door and speaking to the female driver, who exits the vehicle and appears to strike at the man. She then swears in Hokkien before re-entering the car.

A search of the vehicle’s license plate number on the One Motoring website showed that its road tax expired on 27 July. It is an offence to use a vehicle on the roads without valid road tax.

As of 2.30pm on Sunday, a video of the incident posted on the Roads.sg Facebook page had gathered some 51,000 views and had been shared more than 500 times.
