SINGAPORE — Stepping into No Sleep Club (NSC) on 20 Keong Saik Road, one won’t be able to tell if it’s a coffeehouse, a bar or a restaurant. A deliberate attempt as founders Juan Yi Jun and Jessica Hutch intended NSC to function as a creative studio instead, bridging the world of design, food and beverage together.
With multiple qualifications in graphic and advertising design, as well as a diploma in classical music, Yi Jun took a different approach for her career path and honed her bartending skills at Chef Ryan Clift’s award-winning restaurant, The Tippling Club, before moving on to contemporary Asian F&B venue Ding Dong. Soon after, she joined the much-talked about cocktail bars Operation Dagger and 1880. Having been bitten by the entrepreneurial bug, Yi Jun opened the smallest 4-seater bar on Club Street in Singapore in April 2019, before expanding its operations to become the No Sleep Club of today.
With over seven years experience in the local bar scene, Yi Jun’s partner, Hutch, had worked in the hospitality team for cocktail bar, 28 Hong Kong Street and expanded her role as an advisor and educator for luxury bespoke events. She joined Yi Jun’s smallest club operations as a test bed and together they run NSC’s new space on Keong Saik Road.
