Wondergirl Fairtex Teases Redemption Match Against Jackie Buntan

Wondergirl Fairtex captured the hearts of ONE Championship fans when she scored a first-round knockout of Brooke Farrell and then a second-round KO of KC Carlos.

At that point, she looked unstoppable in ONE Super Series.

However, the Thai hit a roadblock in her last outing, as she dropped a decision loss to American Jackie Buntan – a loss that gave Wondergirl plenty of time to reflect on the fight that left her injured.

“There was a little mistake [from me], but big enough that the punch [hit me in my eye] and I couldn’t see anything,” she said.

“If I have [a rematch], I need to work on my cardio, I need to [have a new] game plan, everything. But it’s okay. It’s good. I can lose and learn.”

She can also recover. The injury has forced Wondergirl to throttle back her engine during training, allowing not only her eye, but also her old, nagging injuries to heal.

“It was hard because I still wanted to train like usual – not go easy. That was kind of a bit boring,” she said.

“But it was good for my recovery – not just [my face], but my shoulder and every injury just healed up because I took a rest.”

Now that she’s nearing peak fitness, Wondergirl is seeking a redemption match with the only woman to serve her a loss in ONE Super Series.

Buntan is coming off another impressive win against Ekaterina “Barbie” Vandaryeva, making it two in a row. With that, Wondergirl would love to reverse the American’s fortunes in a second showdown.

“Jackie Buntan, congratulations on your last two bouts,” the Thai said.

“You did a great job. I just want to say that now I am on [my way to] recovery, and it would be an honor to rematch with you. You’re a good fighter.”
