A rare blackout hit 19 areas of Singapore early on Tuesday morning (18 September), affecting some 150,000 residents.

The power outage, first reported around 1.20 am, lasted nearly 40 minutes in some areas, and even street lights were affected leaving motorists floundering in the dark.

SP Group said electricity was fully restored in all areas by 1.56am.

Netizens who shared posts about the blackout seemed anxious, as this occurrence seemed widespread.
