Ghost jobs – positions that seem real but never lead to hiring – are on the rise, leaving job seekers frustrated.

In fact, about 1 in 5 job listings are ghost jobs.

A recent study found that as much as 22 per cent of job postings are “ghost jobs,” meaning they never lead to actual hires.

Whether companies are testing talent or creating the illusion of growth, ghost jobs waste valuable time and energy for job seekers.

But spotting them isn't always easy.

From outdated job posts to vague descriptions, there are signs to watch out for.
