SINGAPORE — Hospital care standards in Singapore came into spotlight last week in a viral Facebook post by a 24-year-old marketing executive, which highlighted her unhappiness with poor palliative care offered to her grandmother by Changi General Hospital.

With an ageing population, care for the elderly has become an increasingly important consideration among families in Singapore. And hospitals face increasing pressure to match their service standards to the demands of Singaporeans who seek quality care for their relatives who are in the final stages of their lives.
