Two MRT train delays in as many days have left commuters frustrated, especially after the hours-long disruption of Wednesday. In that case, a track point fault was reported early in the morning at Clementi MRT Station, leading to up to 40 minutes’ additional train travel time between Boon Lay and Queenstown stations.

Images of packed train platforms on the East West Line during the morning rush hour commute made their rounds online. The fault was only rectified by 1.35pm, more than six hours after the fault was first announced by SMRT.

An earlier delay on Tuesday morning led to an additional 15 minutes’ train travel time. That fault was caused by a platform screen door fault and was resolved in about half an hour.
