Yahoo Poll: What do you think of a third causeway between Singapore and Malaysia?
The Causeway between Woodlands and Johor Baru is nearly 100 years old, and the Second Link between Tuas and Johor opened in the late 1990s. Both are regularly overwhelmed by traffic in both directions.
The Johor government has expressed interest in a third link to Singapore, this time on the eastern side, connecting directly to Pulau Ubin. The state’s chief minister said he has spoken with “several interested parties”.
At the federal level, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has acknowledged there is “some” plan for a third link – but for its part, Singapore says it has yet to receive official word from Putrajaya.
