Yahoo signs Jose Mourinho as global football ambassador

“The Special One” Jose Mourinho has signed on as Yahoo’s 2014 global football ambassador.

“I’m very excited that I will be working as an exclusive analyst for Yahoo’s worldwide football coverage including the FIFA World Cup 2014,” said the Chelsea manager, hailed by many as one of the greatest tacticians of all time.

The partnership will see the 51-year-old Portuguese provide analysis and commentary exclusively for Yahoo readers during the World Cup to be played in Brazil from June 12 –July 13.

And to kick things off, the ex-Real Madrid and Inter Milan boss believes England could win the World Cup.

The much-maligned Three Lions, who laboured to a 1-0 friendly win over Denmark on Thursday morning, received Mourinho’s backing when he was asked to name his top contenders for the World Cup. England will be grouped with Luis Suarez’s Uruguay, Italy and Costa Rica in Group D.

“England, everybody says no, no, no, no, no… I always say why not because I don’t understand why not,” said Mourinho.

“When I see the players and the experience of the players and the clubs where they play, I don’t understand why one day it cannot happen.”
