Yodpanomrung Jitmuangnon Is Calm And Composed Ahead Of ONE Super Series Debut

Six-time Muay Thai World Champion Yodpanomrung “The Lightning Knee” Jitmuangnon has done it all in the big Muay Thai arenas of Thailand, but now he is bringing his elite-level striking skills to ONE Championship’s striking-only league, ONE Super Series.

On 22 September, the Thai star will take on Fabrice Fairtex Delannon in a bantamweight Muay Thai bout at ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES in Jakarta.

The man with a career record of 230-68-2 says he is confident of victory on his ONE Super Series debut.

“I have watched clips of my opponent, and I’m not worried,” said the 24-year-old, who has been competing in Muay Thai competition for over a decade.

“I understand the significance of the opportunity ONE Championship has provided me with. I’m coming to fight!”

While Yodpanomrung has spent his career competing in Thailand, his opponent Delannon has travelled the globe to further his Muay Thai career.

Delannon eventually found his way to the birthplace of Muay Thai and set up his base at the famed Fairtex Gym in Pattaya nearly two years ago.

Yodpanomrung’s bout with Delannon will offer a contrast of styles, with the two athletes taking a markedly different approach to the same striking art.

While Delannon is the more aggressive, come-forward, exponent of Muay Thai, Yodpanomrung’s best work tends to come on the counter-attack.

It should make for yet another fascinating ONE Super Series Muay Thai contest, with a twist.

The bout will be contested in 4-ounce, mixed martial arts gloves, which the Thai star has never used in competition before.

However, as you might expect of a man who has captured a remarkable six Muay Thai world titles, Yodpanomrung is feeling calm and confident ahead of his ONE Super Series debut.

“I’m not worried about my opponent,” he says.

“Instead, I am focused on the opportunity ONE has given me.”
