PUTRAJAYA: Over 600 youths from all over the country have thronged Dataran Putrajaya here, in support of the day-long Ekspresi Negaraku carnival today.

The youths, aged between 13 and 30, marched to Dataran Putrajaya from behind the Palace of Justice, bearing placards listing the 'Rukunegara'.

One of the representatives, 1Majlis Belia Negara deputy president Mohd Rasidi Ismail, said the participants, from youth clubs and non-governmental organisations nationwide, had come to the event to show their love for the nation.

"We want to show that we, the youth, love Malaysia very much.

"In this day and age, I think it is becoming increasingly important that the younger generation have a strong sense of patriotism for the nation, and I'm very proud that all of us have come here today," he said.

The first-ever Ekspresi Negaraku kicked-off at 7am this morning with a Larian Bendera Negaraku run, which attracted over 4,000 participants.
