PETRA JAYA: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today fulfilled his promise to provide financial assistance to upgrade facilities at the Darul Husni Warrahmah Mosque in Taman Hussein here.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, representing Zahid, handed over a cheque worth RM500,000 to the mosque's chairman Hamdan Sharbini.
Fadillah, who is also the Petra Jaya MP, also announced a contribution of RM200,000 for the mosque's upgrading works, which will be conducted in two phases.
Zahid had announced his intention to fund extension work and construction of other facilities for the mosque during his visit on Nov 24 last year.
He had said the allocation would be derived from his Yayasan Al-Falah.
The mosque was originally a surau built in 1988. It was later upgraded into a mosque in 2009 and had underwent a RM4.3 million renovation, which was completed last year.
A total RM2.3 million of the total cost was raised by the public while remaining amount was jointly funded by the Federal and state governments.
