Zamboanga gov’t firm on no-ransom policy for 5 hostages

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) kidnapped five construction workers in Patikul, Sulu last Saturday.

The victims were identified as Josel Adanza, Jung Guerrero, Jenly Miranda, Edmundo “Momoy” Ramos and Jayson Ramos; all from Zamboanga City.

Authorities are still determining where ASG has taken the victims.

Meanwhile, the Zamboanga City government stands firm against paying of ransom to the bandits in exchange for the release of their victims.

“Negotiations are done through authorized agencies. This morning we visited the families concerned. City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD ) made available some assistance for them,” said Zamboanga Mayor Beng Climaco. — Dante Amento|UNTV News & Rescue
