Zayn Malik ‘dreading’ his first solo tour as battle with anxiety continues
Bad news for any Zayn Malik obsessives hoping to catch a glimpse of their hero in the flesh any time soon.
According to The Daily Star, the chances of the ex-One Direction singer taking his solo album on the road are “very slim” because of his well-publicised battle with anxiety.
“Zayn is still really struggling,” said an insider. “The thought of going on a full world tour fills him with dread.”
So how about a one-off gig somewhere? Even an appearance on the X Factor or something? Something…. Anything!?
Doesn’t sound like it.
“Even an one-off TV appearance is unlikely at the moment,” continued the mysterious Malik oracle.
“Zayn has been working hard to get control of his fears and obviously wants to perform live.
“But at the same time he doesn’t want to let anyone down by announcing dates and then cancelling them. He’s feeling a lot of pressure to perform and feels much more comfortable in the studio.”
Of course, the 23-year-old Pillowtalk singer has already notched up a couple of cancelled gigs this year, so it’s probably best that he’s doesn’t commit himself for now.
Fans were devastated – and some less than sympathetic – when he pulled out of his hotly-anticipated UK solo debut at the Capital FM Summertime Ball in June after suffering “from the worst anxiety of his career”.
Zayn was also due to perform in Dubai this coming weekend, but again, his anxiety has got the better of him. In a message to fans he explained he’s lacking in confidence, but feels he’s “making progress”.
While fans are understandably worried about his health, showbiz insiders are worried for different reasons. They claim his struggle is likely to wreak havoc with his fledgling solo career, scuppering his chance to sell a shedload of albums.
“Not only will Zayn miss out on millions from lost tour earnings but his album sales will suffer if he’s never able to perform,” they explained.
“A musician not able to perform his music is risking his career.”
