SINGAPORE — The Progress Singapore Party (PSP) elected six new members to its central executive committee (CEC) during its party conference on Sunday (28 March).
The new CEC members are Dr Ang Yong Guan, Kayla Low Shu Yu, Jess Chua, Wendy Low, Phang Yew Huat and Harish Pillay, said PSP in a Facebook post.
Re-elected to CEC were party leader Dr Tan Cheng Bock, along with Hazel Poa, Leong Mun Wai, Francis Yuen, Wang Swee Chuang and Peggie Chua. Poa and Leong are current Non-constituency Members of Parliament.
"Six members of the previous CEC have been re-elected and the new CEC has six new members to provide the party with a renewed leadership at the highest decision making body," said PSP in its post.
The 12 CEC members were elected from 26 nominations following two hours of deliberations by PSP cadres. They will serve until March 2023. The new CEC will meet again this week to select new office holders, whose appointments will be announced on Thursday.
Commenting on the CEC elections, Dr Tan said, "This is a significant milestone in PSP and the new CEC will chart the way for the party and our future."
