Amin Pathan replaces Lalit Modi as acting President of Rajasthan Cricket Association

Jaipur, Oct.11 (ANI): In a bid to resolve the long standing dispute between the association and Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI), Former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi has been removed as the president of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). RCA vice-president Amin Pathan has been selected as the acting president of the association. "In order to save Rajasthan Cricket Association and remove the ban imposed by the BCCI, RCA joint Secretary Shakti Singh called an extraordinary general meeting, wherein 23 of the 33 districts brought a no-confidence motion and removed RCA president Lalit Modi, secretary Somendra Tiwari, Mehmood M Abdi, and Pawan Goyal," Pathan told ANI here. Earlier in May, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had suspended the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) following the re-election of Lalit Modi as president of the state cricket body. In January, the Supreme Court had deferred the release of the results of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) elections, which were held on December 19, till January 17. In September 2013, a life-ban was imposed by the BCCI on Modi accusing him of causing financial irregularities during his tenure as the IPL commissioner. (ANI)
