Anthony Chan already feels like a winner

11 Apr – It has been quite a while since Anthony Chan Yau played an important role in a movie. Thus, being nominated for an award is considered victory enough for him.

As reported on Oriental Daily, the actor, whose last major role was in 1993's "3 Days of a Blind Girl", considers himself a newcomer when he returned to play the role of Yau in Juno Mak's directorial debut, "Rigor Mortis" and did not expect to be nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for the 33rd Hong Kong Film Awards.

"I have no contact with the movie industry for 20 years," he said. "To be recognised [with the nomination] made me feel like I am already a winner."

Anthony admitted that he decided to return after living in mainland China for a long time not just for on screen work but for several off screen projects as well.

"This is the opportunity for me to learn the current trend of the Hong Kong film industry," said the actor, who had also direct, produce and write movies back in the 90s.

When asked why he decided to work with Juno Mak instead of other senior directors, Anthony replied, "I have been offered several different films, but I turned them down. But when Juno called me, I felt very confident with him. It's like I am destined to star in the movie, since I have worked in vampire movies back then."
