Basketball: Kentucky edge Notre Dame for Final Four berth

The University of Kentucky edged Notre Dame in a 68-66 thriller on Saturday to remain unbeaten and book their coveted Final Four berth in the national collegiate basketball championship. Karl-Anthony Towns, Kentucky's Dominican-American center, scored a game-high 25 points and Andrew Harrison made two free throws with six seconds left to play as the Wildcats improved to 38-0 for the season. They are trying to become the first undefeated college basketball champions since Indiana University in 1976. They will face Wisconsin next Saturday in the tournament semi-finals in Indianapolis. Notre Dame's Fighting Irish led for most of the second half before Kentucky scored the last four points of the contest. Towns powered to the basket for a layup with 1:14 left on the clock to knot the score at 66-66. After each team failed to score on their next possessions, Harrison worked the clock down and attacked the rim, drawing a foul. "Coach told me to go with nine (seconds left)," said Harrison. "I think I went a little before that, it was so wide open that I just tried to take it. I got fouled, and thank God I made two free throws."
