I just came back from lunch

Ate rice with dishes , cost me six S$6.00 at amoy Hawker centre . bought one pc of Pineapple cost me 1 S$1.00 . Morning drank one cup of tea S$1.20 MRT train fare (got to fight my way into MRT) S$1.60 x 2 ways = Total S$11.40

Salary never increase since 2007 but the rest of the other things increase , dare not to ask for increment because I am afraid my boss will tell me this : ah Huey , if you are unhappy , the door is always there and there are cheap foreign workers like those ladies from china , Burmese , vietnamese ettc... and they are young and beautiful while you are like @#$% ..

See this is the result of our so call good PAP government - bringing those cheapskate girls from these country and fighting with us over our rice bowl

Interesting pre-election reading. Poor BG Yeo, he mentioned his saddest and most difficult moment in his life publicly and gets hammered all over now.
You may find this post sad, if true. However, it shows the reality of life in Singapore…..
People are born different but human beings should not make the world more uneven to the “lesser people”. That's why it's common in Singapore for the poorer people to say that it's better to die than to get sick in Singapore. You know why, even if one recovers from a long illness and stay in a hospital; the bill will shock or kill because it will run into 6 figures invariably. A friend of mine stayed in a hospital because of a terminal illness during the last stage of her life; she has gone to Heaven leaving her mother (who has never worked in her life) and another sister, who is working, to pay her bill which came to >100k. Her mother and sister have to support another sister who is not normal.
      ----------------------------------
The Tale of 2 Leukemia Cases:- The Haves versus the Have-nots
Firstly, let me preface this by saying it’s no laughing matter that BG Yeo's son has leukaemia, and also that Marjorie Soh, the 12 years old girl lost her battle with leukaemia at the age of 12. I can't imagine the pain of losing one's child at that age.
However, I am struck by the contrast and similarity between these 2 cases. In one case, BG Yeo has a young son diagnosed with leukaemia, and the Sohs’ also had a young daughter diagnosed with leukaemia too. One family carries on life with no noticeable financial burden, and the other family is in effect bankrupted and chased after by creditors and had to sell their home.
BG Yeo is a wealthy man, we all know this, and despite the ability to get cheap medical care in Singapore for his son (such as $8 heart bypass surgeries available only to Ministers like him), he chose to send his entire family (all 5 of them) to Memphis, Tennessee to live there for 9 months while his son undergoes medical treatment there. I am not even going to guess what the cost is. And while there, he renovated his house into a sterile environment for his son, yet another $1 million spent there easily.
The heartlander Sohs, in the meantime, used Singapore doctors and hospital (because the government tells them the doctors and hospitals are best in the medical field in the region) ran up a $400K medical bill, and still the dau! ghter dies. I guess that BG Yeo did not get the memo that he was already living in the country that has the 'bestest' facilities and doctors, and decided to take his son to the US. The Sohs have spent literally every dollar they have to save their daughter, just like any forum reader would have done. They have even sold their home and yet it’s not enough to cover the bills. They will be made bankrupt soon. And no government agency, hospital or doctor can or is willing to save them. Even the evil doctor cut her bill in half and then rebated it further for the Sultan of Brunei's sister. But this is not applicable if you are just a normal citizen.
Sad to say, in Singapore, this is not the exceptional case at all. Fr! om personal experience, in order to keep Ministers away from bribery, Sinkapoorer pay them 3 millions and even more than 4 millions per annum, I have friends and relatives that have incurred 6 figure medical bills despite all the plethora of supposed insurance, and financial aid plans available according to the PAP. Wooden Goh used to say repeatedly that no one will be left behind in Singapore's economic success. I beg to differ, many people are being left behind and they are not on the lower spectrum either. They are regular people, not poorly educated or jobless.
What happened to the principle that all will receive the same medical care? Since when has it been OK for a servant of the people like BG Yeo to say local medicine is not good enough, I go to the US. If the Sohs could affo

My dear Singaporeans, please vote wisely for this may be your last chance to change to the better for both our country and our citizens.

If PAP wins too many seats than they may think that Singaporeans are supporting them with those influx of FTs, high cost of living and the unaffordable HDB flats prices.

One of the worst scenario is that after this election they pass law allowing PRs to vote in the next election and all of us will be dead ducks. We will become the 3rd class citizens instead of the 2nd class citizens now.

Yes, agreed, who knows by then there will be more PR then pure sgp.

The wisest vote is for the PAP. Why rock the boat when it is steady?
      • denise 1 year 1 month ago
The PAP brought in so many foreigners not because of the falling birth rates. They brought in so many foreigners to create a new electorate whom they can manipulate and use to keep them in power because they know native Singaporeans are getting disillusioned with them.

Third world foreigners are easy to please and when you give them almost as many privileges as native Singaporeans, and give them the opportunity to earn in strong Singapore Dollars which will make them wealthy back home, they will vote for you, won't they? Stop the PAP before they achieve their goal. Stop the PAP before we are edged out by foreigners. It is not xenophobia we are feeling, it is survival instinct kicking in. VOTE THE OPPOSITION IN. Our survival as a people depends on it.

People of Singapore! If you vote for PAP DON'T EVER COMPLAIN if ...

      - bus / MRT fares go up
      - school / poly/ university fees go up
      - cost of living goes up
      - GST goes up
      - ministers'/ president's/ MPs pay goes up and
      - your pay is cut
      - HDB flats cost more
      - more FTs take over your jobs, your homes
      - retirement age is raised to 70 years
      - CPF withdrawal age is raised to 70 years, etc, etc

You cannot complain because by voting them in for another 5 years, you show your support for the PAP and their policies. So you have to SHUT UP, smile and pay and pay.

Only those who vote Opposition have the right to complain.
      • Happy Happy 1 year 1 month ago
raising the retirement age is to protect the poor and low income, if you are very rich, you can retire at any age...but if you are poor and earning low income, raising the retirement age is to ensure you are employed

      • Public View 1 year 1 month ago
if opposition wins, surely they also will be in the position of PAP, whereby some people will complain about this and that. so i can't agree that voters of PAP cannot complain this and that. that's what the MPs are for to listen to our concerns and challenges. i think what is important is whether opposition has quality people that can deliver better results than the current government.

I wish thank and compliment Mr Chiam See Tong and Mr Low Thia Kiang, because they have shown their commitment to Singaporeans, by choosing not to take an easy ride into Parliament, like the backdoor GRC route that the PAP candiates are ushered thru.

Though Mr Chiam and Mr Low could have taken a backseat an easily won their respectives constituncies, they have kept their promise to take on a GRC.

As for Mr Chiam See Tong, though your body is bent, your braveheart surely stand much straighter than any PAP candidate, who cant stand on their backbones. Though your voice is faint, your spirit rises above all.

Mr Low, thank you for keeping your promise to field a credible oppostion. I am sure your commitment and dedication will pave the way for more professionals and capable men to come forward.

DR Chee Soon Juan, though you may not be able to stand as a candidate for this elections, a huge compliment should go to you, for the manner you have held your own, and guided what looked like a sinking ship, to new shores.

The able men and women who have joing the SDP are a credit to you and your leadership.

I thank all Oppostions candidates, for their sacrifice and commitment to step forward to lead Singapore to a better and brighter future.

SINGAPORE SALUTES THE HEROES OF THE OPPOSITION.

Do not under estimate the power of MIW until the result is released. Opp parties got to stay focus and vigilant to fight to the last hour.

Singaporeans, is your choice to decide for the future now. Let us make history and be proud of ourselves to break from our usual mentality being kiasu and kiasi.
    • Commoner  •  1 year 1 month ago
Differentiate betwwn the old PAP and new PAP. Old PAP had done good for Singapore and the PAP old guards deserve our respect. But the new PAP is different. New PAP has made many mistakes and yet refuse to acknowledge their mistakes and rectify them. Their mistakes in the last few years include "driving new HDB price to exorbitant level", "YOG over budget by 200%", "Terrorist Mas Salamat escape incident", "6m$ worth of HAN1 threw away (instead giving it to citizen free)" just to name a few. Vote for oppostion to have Check and Balance on PAP. Singapore needs a first world parliament.

After reading so much discontent with the PAP and having also share the same feeling myself, it will be extremely devastating if we are unable to get the opposition in. I cannot imagine waiting another 5 agonising PAP years for the next opportunity ... another 5 difficult and frustrating years with MBT, VB, TCH, KBW.. Let us all garner support from friends and family to support our cause for change. Lets not take for granted our own vote will sufffice cos it isn't. I cannot bear to be devastated.. neither do all of u

Congratulations, Dr Chia Shih-lu! You have won a big LOTTERY PRIZE of over THREE QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS for the next 5 years doing only a part-time job. Can continue with your profession = more $$$ :-) like the other Tanjong Pagar GRC MPS. So easy. How?

No need to wait in 4-D or Toto queue. Just TUMPANG on MM Lee's back and SNEAK into Parliament in Tanjong Pagar GRC. After that, the most difficult part is to attend Parliament just a few times a year. That's all.

Then you can relax for the next 5 years till the next elections when you will be required to walkabout the hawker centres to shake hands with aunties and Ah Peks, tickle and cuddle babies...

What a windfall! Take your family for a round-the-world trip. Can come back with lots of change to spare!

PAP after nomination day not returning to power.

    • Chew  •  1 year 1 month ago
I was kind of impressed by PM Lee quote of the Three Kingdom phase "Everything is ready, only waiting for the Eastern wind" in reply to the challenged by Reform Party + Opposition Candidates in AMK. Firstly, the strongest contender in that story is Wei, Cao Cao, who had control over the Han emperor. The weaker coalition is make up of Wu, Sun Quan and Shu, Liu Bei. The smart Cao Cao follow the strate---- to chained all his ship together which was badly defeated by fire attack from the coalition forces and nearly lost his life.
Also, this is a very great story that has lots of similarity to our plight today. Which of them would you rather be your lord, Cao Cao? Sun Quan or Liu Bei? I had chosen Liu Bei to be my Lord as he is caring towards his citizen.

Just received my peanuts, $200 for the Growth package. Wow! Thanks PAP.

So generous of you. Paying yourselves 8 months bonus ($1 - $2 million each).

A completely legitimate for of corruption, called GREED.

And DPM WKS no need to be accountable. Did he not visit the Whitley Disneyworld? Oops, I mean detention centre. Doesn't he know that the extremely dangerous prisoners like Selamat were housed in relatively unsecured detention, with freedom to have visits by relatives in the same room, having direct contacts? Alamak, of course he must be fully aware of that and it must have had his approval.

And yet he wasn't apologetic at all, only apologies was for the failure of his subordinates. The camp commandant of course took total responsibility and was sacked. And he went scot-free, continuing to draw more than $3million a year plus 8 months bonus last year.

      Excellent job, PAP.

One interesting thing - when PAP lost, they won't leave that constituency, they'd stay put at the community centre & the opposition guy who had won would just have a small office called Town Council below a HDB flat ! Then when you hv say, Lantern Festival celebration with the residents, you would see 2 parties celebrating with the residents- 2 camps ! So, win or not, PAP'll stay put ! By right, whoever loses must leave, right ? This was seen at Potong Pasir all these while...
    • Ken  •  1 year 1 month ago
I'd vote opposition in CCK, did that in 2001 when i was fresh outta army lol, 06 was a walkover and this year i have my chance to be 'heard' again thanks to opposition!

I know opposition can clinch at least half of the contested wards as opposition put up the best teams possible, better than pap and at a time whereby public dissent is at the highest.

So after this election we can see 40 odd opposition MPs in the parliament.
