Yam Ah Mee returns with ‘PAssion’
Singapore's latest Internet star is at it again.
People's Association chief executive director Yam Ah Mee, who was Returning Officer at the recent General Elections (GE), appears to be leveraging on his recent GE fame by appearing in the PA's latest video.
The simple 35-second video, which has drawn almost 53,000 views since it was uploaded ten days ago, shows Yam walking into a room to address viewers.
Speaking in his now-signature monotonous voice, coupled with his deadpan expression, the 54-year-old is seen was appealing for people to attend a PA event.
His exact words said in the video: "Hello everyone, come, join me at the PAssion Movie Night on the 21st of May. See you there."
At the event on Saturday evening, Yam stole the show when he appeared, drawing applause and cheers from the crowd.
Taking his newfound fame in his stride, he said that he would use it to help publicise PA activities.
"We saw a good opportunity to inform our friends about the activity tonight and I understand that quite a number of the Facebook friends are here to join the others for the movie," he said.
39-year-old sales executive Janice Lim, who asked for a photo with him, said, "I just saw the remix on Saturday and I thought it was funny so I asked for a picture."
